Laboring Together - A Virtual Couples Workshop

Research shows that what most impacts how a person feels about their birth is how supported they felt.

The partners of my birthing clients want to feel helpful during labor - this is one of their main concerns. They want simple techniques to support mama in achieving a more easeful and even empowering birth experience.

This workshop is designed for couples who want to lean into their connection, and allow intimacy to be a foundation as they navigate the uncharted territory of their unique birth. Join me for this 60 minute interactive virtual workshop to gain insight from my expertise as a Yoga Therapist, Doula and new mama (who has been in your shoes!).

What You’ll Get Out Of It

  • An introduction to the 3Rs of Childbirth

  • Know when your partner needs you to jump in for more hands-on support

  • More confidence in your abilities as a couple to cope with labor

  • Evidence-based information

  • Connect with fellow parents and parents-to-be

  • A short simple breath + movement practice to calm any anxieties as we discuss birth

What Clients Have to Say…

“We appreciated her authenticity and experience as a mother and doula. During our virtual sessions, Malaika created a safe space free from bias and filled with support...This journey was very delicate for us so we wanted to be mindful of the energy in which we received our blessing. Malaika understood this and consciously delivered from start to finish.”

— Simmone + Andre

“ Because Malaika was in Grenada and I was in Philadelphia during my pregnancy our sessions were via video call and it was such a beautiful experience that didn’t feel impersonal at all.

What was most important for me wasn’t just getting help for my son’s journey into the world, but making sure my partner felt confident in his ability to be my support during the process. Malaika’s love for and knowledge of her work was evident to both of us and she really helped us with what to expect and wonderful tools to flow through the process. “

— Safa + Yuri

“ Being able to connect with other pregnant people during this time of social distancing and quarantine was also very precious to me...Malaika is so knowledgeable and her presence is very calming and reassuring, even via zoom so I definitely recommend her and this lovely offering. “

— Safiya

Malaika Maitland is a professional yoga therapist (1000hr), pregnancy, labour & postpartum doula and new mama. She has over a decade of experience teaching yoga and was recognized internationally as one of 20 Yoga Teachers of Color to Watch in 2020. In 2011 she co-founded Spice Harmony Yoga in Grenada alongside her parents, who are also certified yoga teachers. Through years of offering prenatal yoga at her studio she realized that there are a lack of resources for expecting mothers and their loved ones. Malaika began her path to becoming a doula in 2016 with an intensive led by International Center for Traditional Childbearing. In 2018 she began her latest doula training with Mama Glow.
