My Grandada, the first person to really see me as a kindred spirit, would have been 78 years old today.
This crystal singing bowl came into my life on the day that I tried and failed to bring some of my Grandada's ashes to Machu Picchu. I had bought my ticket to Machu Picchu before I went to Peru but didn't realize I should have bought my train ticket as well. After an amazing retreat in the Sacred Valley I thought I could easily find my way there.
With the train sold out, a 4 hour taxi ride and long walk in the night was the only way to get there. I had to meditate on what Grandada would have said if I called him in that moment. I was sitting in the store with the singing bowls at the time. I could clearly hear my Grandada laughing at me trying to force a pilgrimage on his behalf (Machu Picchu was a place he always wanted to travel to). My other option was the spend the night and following day in community with Katie Randall and the incredible medicine women who had guided the retreat. Isolation and a forced journey or Ease and Communion...the answer was clear.
This crystal singing bowl reminds me that in STILLNESS answers come. My Grandada was all about connecting, he saw people as people, even random strangers. I miss our conversations but I am so grateful for all the wisdom and curiosity we shared in the time we had together.
